Doug Davis graduated from the Community College of Denver North Campus in 1979 with his Associates Degree in Machine Shop Practices. During his college years, he worked for Oakley Industries as an Apprentice Machinist and then as a Journeyman Apprentice. After he graduated, Doug began working at Coors Brewing Company as a Machinist and Tool & Die Maker. During this time at Coors, he was part of the team that designed the wide mouth Stay On Tab ring pull top for the Coors cans. Doug also designed the motionless end down stacker still being used today. After 18 years of experience he became the Graveyard Leadman in the Tool & Die Shop, and then learned to be a Process Maintenance Mechanic. At Coors he mastered laser alignment and earned his welding certificates. With his vast knowledge, Doug began his own business on the side, D.D. Machining LLC, where his practice moved from cans to many other areas of machining and tooling, including rifles. Randy and Diann Pennington heard of his work and recruited him to work for Mile High, where he has become an imperative part of the team.
Doug is a confident, highly-driven individual with the practical hands-on machining experience of 40+ years. Resourceful and proactive, he combines effective communication skills with detailed machining knowledge to identify opportunities and deliver a precise product with the best speed and accuracy obtainable. He enjoys being able to pass his experience on to his fellow associates while still being able to learn new technologies. Doug has a solid track record of using advanced research, analysis, strategic planning, and negotiation skills to successfully develop business initiatives, while maximizing profit, minimizing costs, and striving for continuous improvement.
