Sales Associate I

Job Description:

Entry Level Position.

Provide customer service to both walk-in and phone-in customers. Assist them with answering questions, providing them with promotional deals, directing them to the correct department, or assisting them with custom build firearms.

 

Job Duties:

 • Provide customers with product information ranging from handguns, rifle systems, ammunition, optics, and a wide range of accessories.

 • Process end-of-day sales statements by totaling checks, cash, credit cards, and gift cards.

 • Restock shelves in the retail shopping area.

 • Ensures products in retail areas are marked correctly.

 • Acts as a consistent member of the team and displays a willingness to learn, grow, and collaborate without objection or disagreement. 

 

Skills/Qualifications:

 • Compliance, 4473’s, Form 4’s, understanding Straw Purchases, etc. are the responsibility of ALL MHSA Sales Associates without exception

 • Basic knowledge of Spuhr and Accuracy International product lines is sufficient to address common customer questions and sell items from those product lines, particularly those which we sell most frequently.

 • Basic knowledge of firearm functions and features including Pistols, Gas, and Bolt operated rifles such that the associate can sell these items to the average consumer and answer questions they may have. A “Sales Associate I” should understand all the parts that go into a bolt action rifle build but may need assistance selling a detailed full build from a more experienced colleague or a gunsmith.

 • Basic understanding of scopes we carry, costs/benefits associated with them, and the ability to assist the average customer with deciding on a new scope.

 • Ability to effectively use NetSuite to include Quotes, Sales Orders, and Invoices, find products to locate inventory and accurately reflect inventory sold to maintain the integrity of our inventory process.

 • A clear understanding of when and how to engage other business units within MHSA and a cooperative attitude towards working with those groups outside of sales.

Sales Associate II

Job Description:

Experienced Position
Retail Firearms Sales Specialist II will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to each customer. This position requires extensive knowledge of firearms, rifles, handguns, shotguns, optics, class III, ammunition, and shooting accessories.
 
Job Duties:
 • Provide customers with product information ranging from handguns, rifle systems, ammunition, optics, and a wide range of accessories.
 • Process end-of-day sales statements by totaling checks, cash, credit cards, and gift cards.
 • Restock shelves in the retail shopping area.
 • Ensures products in retail areas are marked correctly.
 • Acts as a consistent member of the team and displays a willingness to learn, grow, and collaborate without objection or disagreement.
 
Skills/Qualifications:

 • In-depth knowledge of Spuhr and Accuracy International product lines above and beyond that of a “Sales Associate I.” These are the most important product lines we carry and to reach this level the employee should be an expert with regard to these two without exception.
 • Spuhr - Knowledge relating to hunting series, accessories, rails, and other less commonly sold Spuhr products beyond that of entry-level colleagues and a clear understanding of how these products work with one another.
 • Accuracy International - A deep understanding of AI models to include older discontinued products, accessories that may be used with AI rifles, and capabilities of AI rifles compared to other rifles on the market. This necessitates an understanding of other rifles as well in order to articulate the benefits of AI.
 • In-depth knowledge of firearms at a level that the Associate can work with more sophisticated customers and on more complex builds with no assistance or minimal assistance from colleagues
 • A “Sales Associate II” should be capable of walking a customer through a custom rifle build based on a bare action, selling all related parts, and effectively inputting all necessary information into the Invoice so that once that invoice reaches our gunsmiths they have everything they need to complete the build. They would only require assistance from a gunsmith for these sales when very specific details are needed by the customer or non-standard configurations are involved
 • Requires an elevated level of understanding with regard to pistols and carbines compared to entry-level employees and should be able to talk intelligently about the various optics/lights/grips and other accessories that may be attached to them
 • Experienced user of riflescopes with the ability to teach others about how to use a scope/reticle effectively and how various scopes/reticles can benefit them in multiple shooting disciplines
 • The “Sales Associate II” should be ready, able, and willing to train newer employees on the basic functions of the Sales Associate role at MHSA and in the absence of a supervisor should be able to be trusted as a leader by their less experienced counterparts.
 • Takes a proactive approach towards bettering MHSA, understands our product lines as well as competing lines we may not carry, is aware of new product development and changes within the industry

Law Enforcement / Military Sales Representative

Job Description:
Responsible for sales of firearms and related equipment to Law Enforcement and Military customers.

 

Job Duties:

 • Provide subject matter expertise and excellent customer service to law enforcement and military customers on the selection of shooting equipment that would best serve their department's needs.  
 • Manage the sale of items throughout the sales cycle from initial contact, invoicing, fulfillment, and payment. Follow up on overdue payments with customers.
 • Monitor bid solicitations and submit appropriate bids. Track submitted bids by recording the date, agency, items bid, and final award.
 • Assist customers on the retail floor as necessary. Ensure register is properly closed out and end of day paperwork is submitted when working the retail floor.
 • Build lasting business relationships and rapport with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies resulting in a high level of service and customer loyalty.
 • Keep management informed of pertinent administrative and/or operational matters.
 • Prepare professional correspondence for the company to meet customers administrative needs and to enhance marketing to law enforcement agencies. 
 • Represent the company at professional trade shows and product demonstrations in locations throughout the United States.  
 • Ensure that all firearms, suppressor, and night vision sales are conducted in compliance with company policies, state law, federal law, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

 

Skills/Qualifications:
 • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
 • Prior law enforcement and / or military experience
 • Familiarity with Microsoft Office / Apple OS
 • Oracle-Netsuite knowledge a plus

 • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal form
 • Confidence in public speaking
 • High degree of firearms experience and knowledge
